Learn how to become an expert in providing proactive learning support—what great teachers do to give students the right kind of assistance and get those who are struggling back on track. Robyn Jackson takes you through the steps of building your plan and provide all the strategies you need to support students before, during, and after instruction, including

  • Activating background knowledge, preparing students with advance organizers, and helping them pre-learn key vocabulary.
  • Establishing "red flags" that identify when students need interventions and quickly getting them back on course.
  • Applying remediation for the few students who need help the most.

Regardless of the grade level or subject you teach, get concepts and strategies you need to support students as they learn and intervene effectively with students who show signs that they are headed for failure.

Preparing Future Teachers PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, May 29 2010 07:34
coburn_winter_confWhen high school students and college students come together to learn about teaching, SC ASCD knows it is preparing future teachers for success. SC ASCD is proud to report that our first Winter Student Conference was a tremendous success.

Two years ago, we began to brainstorm how the organization could further support our College Chapters with professional development. We also recognized the number of high school students in our state who were enrolled in Teacher Cadet classes who could benefit from a day set aside to honor their dedication to learning about and working with students in their local districts. The result was our first Winter Student Conference held at Spring Valley High School in Columbia on February 27.
