Amanda Justice, a first grade teacher at Jesse S. Bobo in Spartanburg School District Six, is the winner of the $1000 Teacher Grant for 2009-2010.  Her request focused on funding a parental involvement project entitled “Picture Me Learning through Creativity."

Addressing both ELA and Social Studies standards, Amanda plans to use the funds for a digital camera and printing supplies. The students will be participating in creative projects with their parents and families and will be documenting these learning experiences through pictures and reflective writing.

Amanda has plans to “develop a visual record of student accomplishments for all children in the classroom.” She promises to “share copies of the picturesWe look forward books made to send home at the end of each unit, as well as lesson plans of the outlined activities.” to seeing the picture books and plans!

SC ASCD congratulates Amanda as we send her the $1000. Teacher Grant Award. We acknowledge and appreciate her creativity in providing quality learning experiences for her students.
